tell me... how far did you go

so on my last night on the blue roof farm in Wisconsin I find myself alone and updating my blog and drinking new glarus... I've been here since mid May planting and making some art. No new pix- sorry i am not good at taking pix. I have been making a lot of things though.

Tomorrow I will be in Chicago installing a show with two other artists- Katie and Alexis at Fill in the Blank Gallery.

Then I'll be in Saint Louis and Chapel Hill and DC and New York and Iowa City. If any of you are in any of these places I want to see you.

And then in late August I'll start school at UNC. I'll be MFAing and TAing for a sculpture class. I'm terribly scared and terribly excited.

also i just made sweet potato crepes- they are soo good.

also some reviews of some books I've read or listened to

northanger abbey- this is a great book for those who love abbeys

the family that couldn't sleep- this is a great book for those who love knowing about prion diseases

my antonia- this is a great book for those who want to read highschool literature books outside of highschool. also it's pretty ok

in a sunburnt country- this is a great book for those who check audio books out of the hillsboro WI library

bossy pants- this is a great book for those who like to read books written by tina fey

ALSO: for watching- the 7 up series (unrelated to the soda pop) AND Water (of the element trilogy by Deepa Mehta)

ALSO:for listening- the Tune-yards.

yes.

Oberlin? Commencement week? May? Roadtrips? Sunburns? Gins and Lemonades? Etc?
Also: Why is Saint Louis a frozen tundra? I want to be in the sun and go swimming and talk to animals.

I just made this- nothing new except for some illustrative stuff. I'll put more on it later. I just thought it would be nice to have an easier to navigate online portfolio:

we thought we lost you

hi blog.
hi everyone.
so I completed my residency at Wormfarm and i'm sorry i wasn't really in contact with people but i got a lot of stuff done and vegetables picked and galleries painted (only one gallery got painted). it was cool.
my current base is saint louis where i am now doing things like washing clothes and researching graduate programs.

here's sum shit:

also- coming up:

i'm planning to visit oberlin nov 6ish for a few days- so if you are in oberlin i'll be around. i really hope that some Pleasant people come that weekend too?!?! cause i miss you guys.

annnnd the weekend after thanksgiving i'll be selling some wares at the rock n' roll craft show in Saint Louis.

more updates later. also let me know if
(1) you know of a cool graduate art program
(2) you know if a job that i can have

but i hope to keep updating on an at least semi-regular basis.

edit: i forgot the review.
the review of "it's kind of a funny story", the last movie that i saw:
the amenities charge was mysterious but it was fun to eat an apple in the theater. also the movie was entertaining but at the same time it made me really angry.

freefall.

I can't believe I'm not going back to school! I found some photos from last year that i forgot about. This is the day that everyone was wearing plaid whilst being on our porch. Everyone looks funny in different ways.

Last day in saint louis for a while. I've been living out of my backpack this whole summer (As I've not been anywhere longer than three weeks) so it will be nice to unpack and stay a while somewhere. I'm doing a two month residency at the wormfarm institute, which seems like it will be really nice.
I'll try and update with what I'm doing there. I'm led to believe that it will be a combination of doing art and hanging out with veggies.
Also: remember when I said I'd try and have a real website up. Well I don't think that will happen for a while, but it should happen eventually.
Oh, I should have Skype while I'm away. My name is Jgootzeit. Let's talk!

ok japan

tanuki, as seen in pom poko

a garden gave us tea with gold leaf.

miniature replica of a famous zen rock garden. I like small replicas of famous rock gardens.

Kyoto- view from wandering around in the woods.

Ok: stamps from the temple we (me and Leta) stayed at. Stamps are big now. They seem to be some sort of fad. You get a little stamp pamphlet where you pay your admission fee for the temple or garden and there are stations to stamp your pamphlet.

These we found in our room. i think say the name of the temple. they're really cool and handcarved! Stamped into my sketchbook

Other stuff: Japan was fucking great! so good.
review of japan: fucking great.

Also things eaten:
Ramen
Udon
Soba
okonomoyaki (oka mama mommies)
takoyaki
curry
sushi
sonoran hotdogs
etc.etc.

p.s. i miss all of you

remember when they stole this stuff off the porch? remember how all the official residents got charged 9 (nine) dollars for the tag on the door?
